Artist's Description
The River Shannon and its large expansion, Lough Derg, form the eastern boundary of County Clare. On the west is the wonderfully varied Atlantic coast with its mighty cliffs, caverns and sandy bays. Towards the north this rugged coast rises nearly 700 feet above the sea in the sheer Cliffs of Moher; and here also is the amazing limestone district called the Burren, with its many caves and underground streams. On the south, in the broad Shannon estuary, Ireland's greatest river mingles with the sea. At Rinenna, beside the estuary is the world-known Shannon Airport, where many visitors first set foot on Irish soil.
The fine coastal and inland resorts of Clare, its varied scenery, recreational facilities and other attractions, make the County a holiday-land where health and happy memories are in store for every visitor.
