Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Asgard 11, Ireland's only Sail training tall ship, hit a rock in the Bay of Biscay and sank. All of the crew were saved.
The ship could have been raised and saved but the then government were strapped for cash and wouldn't allow it and probably pocketed the insurance money as well. SHAME...
Ireland a nation surrounded by water with a buoyant economy does not have a maritime training system for young people to this day.
