The Garden County of Wicklow, lying south of Dublin; consists mainly of a great mass of domed granite mountains, penetrated by deep glens and wooded valleys. Towards to its southern and western borders the mountains give place to lesser hills, those on the west merging in turn with the Central Limestone Plain. Among these hills and mountains are places such as Glendalough, with its many ruins and hill-encircled lakes; Glenmalure, in the shadow of Lugnaquilla (3,039 feet); and towards the south, the Vale of Avoca, The coastline is mainly low and sandy, except in a few places, as Bray and Wicklow Heads where it crops out in the headlands. The sportsman and seaside holiday-maker have a wide choice among Wicklow's many resorts, and the county has also endless oportunities for those whose enjoy is the hills and open roads. Don't miss Bray, Greystones, Enniskerry, Wicklow Town and Harbour, West Wicklow, Blessington, Ballyknockan, Hollywood. Avoca and the wilds of the Wicklow mountains,Glendalough, Lugalaw, Arklow, Woodenbridge, Aughrim, Glenmalure and then on down to Carlow. see more...................www.irishlinksworldwide.com
